This style is characterised by straight and clear lines, symmetry and strict proportions. It is dominated by the subtle décor and expensive quality materials, such as wood, silk or marble. Furniture is graceful, but not fancy, having regular geometric shapes and made from the fine wood, such as: mahogany, Karelian birch or solid walnut. Such furniture is decorated with brass and rare wood (lemon tree or rose tree) inlays. The most common interior details are statues, mouldings, mirrors facing each other, creating the illusion of enfilade (series of transitive rooms). The most important highlights of such interior are the ancient columns and arches that are used not only as the means of architecture, but also to decorate windows, mirrors or fireplace.
